LID POSITION DETERMINATION
One should record the position of the
lid margins with respect to the limbus.
This is often more important than actual
palpebral aperture measurement in
determining the lens type and diameter
to be used.
Estimate the coverage of the upper part
of the cornea by the upper lid in mm. If
it covers some of the cornea, for
example 2 mm, then it should be recorded
as +2. If the upper lid is above the upper
limbus, for example by 1 mm, than it
should be recorded as -1.
Likewise if the lower lid covers 1 mm of
the lower cornea it would be recorded as +1. If it is below the lower limbus by 2 mm, it would be recorded as -2.
